Sam Kincannon says on the radio that there have been anti-sacrificial protests organised by students at Glottage University.[2] Carson reiterates this, claiming it as the reason the gates are closed when Shrue arrives.[1]
The Summit[]
Shrue, Cross, Melissa and Brand arrive for a summit on dealing with growing anti-sacrificial sentiment. It is held in the Imagination Suite in the Bowery.
Carson actually uses the summit to test Tranquili-Tea Seven, an energy drink created by the Grindinglord to make sacrifice more humane. Melissa and Brand are killed. Shrue and Cross barely escape. They only escape because Shrue agrees to be a celebrity ambassador of Tranquili-Tea Seven.
Shrue assaults Carson for his actions before they leave.
